Daphne Herath Mudiyanselage

2020/21 Water Conservation Trust Scholar

MSc Water Engineering

Dear all at the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators,

My name is Daphne and I am a mature student and a mother with two children. I have just started my masters degree in Water Engineering at Exeter having done my bachelors in Chemical, Process and Energy Engineering almost 20 years ago.

After graduating from my bachelors degree in my home country of Sri Lanka I came to the UK and have been resident here since 2003, having been granted refugee status.

I was always interested in Water Engineering and in my first degree I studied aspects such as designing water and waste water treatment plants. During my masters I intend to challenge myself to achieve strong academic results with the aim of being able to enrol on a PhD in Water Engineering upon completion of the masters programme.

This scholarship will make a big difference to my life, currently I have little financial support and this award will be massively useful in supporting my travel costs and other expenses. Your support will reduce the financial burden and will help me to focus on my studies, and eventually help as I start my career.

I would like to give a massive thanks to you for supporting me with this scholarship to pursue my goals.

Best wishes,

Daphne
