Profile - Stephen Thomas

Why did you choose to come to Exeter?

The University of Exeter is a prestigious university. It is ranked in the top 10 for finance in the UK and a strong academic reputation. On top of this it has an array of support available not only care leavers like myself, but all students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. So I knew I would be well supported during my time here.

Why have you chosen your subject of study?

I love finance. Learning about the financial markets really is a passion of mine. Seeing how different global economic events influences the financial markets really does fascinate me. I am therefore very excited to be studying the subject at postgraduate level.

What career aspirations do you have?

My ultimate goal is to own a successful business. Although firstly I must get some experience from working as an analysts for an Investment Bank or Asset Management firm.

What will you be doing outside of your studies?

I love to play football and played for my University first team at Cardiff. Once restrictions from the pandemic have lifted and sports societies resume, I plan to participate in Exeter's football club.
