Dear Sara and Nigel,

Hello I am Rowan from Helston, Cornwall. I have just started studying Sport and Exercise Science here at the University of Exeter. Sport and activity is one of my main passions and I look forward to improving my knowledge and employability in addition to meeting new people and having new experiences here at university.

After being made aware of this award and learing more about it, I feel very lucky and proud to have been awarded this opportunity. My mum said how lucky I am but also how she feels I deserve it after following my passions and getting into university and achieving more than what people expected. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders after hearing about this scholarship. This award means I will not have to worry about accommodation and living costs. This scholarship means I don't have to sacrifice my pride and integrity by borrowing money off my family who have done so much for me before this point and therefore gives me so much independence which is something I appreciate greatly. Things like getting a decent laptop instead of borrowing my sisters tablet to do online work will positively contribute to my work here and I am so grateful.

I look forward to keeping you updated with my progress here at Exeter and cannot thank you enough for how the scholarship will affect my life for the next 3 years.

Yours sincerely,

Rowan Henn
