Profile - Rowan Henn

Why have you chosen your subject of study?

At school exercise was the only real thing I enjoyed and my interest in it grew whilst I was at college during my diploma in sport science. It is also my hobby and I therefore feel very fortunate to be able to pursue something I enjoy and am passionate about.

What career aspirations do you have?

I would like to be working within the sporting world either for health or performance. I have not decided on my particular career path yet but intend on learning where I am suited whilst here at university.

What will you be doing outside of study?

I am interested in the rowing, cycling and football teams here at Exeter, and now with the support of the scholarship I can look at joining the societies. Aside from studying I would like to improve my fitness and learn a skill such as the guitar. I also am excited to meet new people and do new things.

What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?

Before receiving the award I was in a situation where it was inevitable that I would run out of money and have to borrow from relatives. This scholarship means I can study independently and enjoy my life at university with less stress. The first thing I will do is buy a laptop which will make my work a lot easier.

Overall, my academic and general life during the next 3 years will be more enjoyable and less stressful as a result of this scholarship and I am very grateful to receive it.
