Profile - Angus Hirst

Why did you choose to come to Exeter?

I chose Exeter primarily beacuse it is the closest university to my home time but also because I had become familiar with it through my participation in the Exeter Scholars programme. It also has a strong reputation and the course I wanted to study was highly rated.

Why have you chosen your subject of study?

I have always been passionate about money and business, and as such accountancy has interested me for a while now.

What career aspirations do you have?

I would like to either be an accountant in a high-profile company or to run my own business in some form.

What will you be doing outside of study?

I am passionate about music, and have joined the rock and metal society as those are my favourite genres. I also enjoy video games as a hobby and have joined the video game society.

What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?

Between this scholarship, my job and my loan, I will not have to worry about finances while studying at Exeter, meaning all the focus will be on my studies. This means a lot to me as it will enable me to get the most out of my time at university and focus on becoming the best version of myself.
