Profile - Amelia Browne
Why did you choose to come to Exeter?
There was many reasons I chose to come to Exeter, one of them being the campus - the accommodation being on campus makes it seem much more homely, as well as all the greenery surrounding Exeter.
Why have you chosen your subject of study?
I chose the Business and Management course as since GCSE, I have been interested in the runnings of a business and wanted to further my knowledge. There was also a lot of choice with the modules on offer and so it gave me much more freedom to narrow down in to the specific areas I wanted to further my education in.
What will you be doing outside of study?
I am very passionate about powerlifting as it is a hobby that I have fallen in love with. The gym at Exeter has amazing equipment and helpful staff. I also love the range of different societies that are active here - I am joining the open water swimming society and art society, which will give me a break from all the academic work.
What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?
I feel incredibly lucky to have been awarded this scholarship and it will help take the pressure off me financially, as that was one of the big factors that influenced my decision in coming to university. It also means that I can focus more on my studies without having to worry about taking so much in the way of paid work. There are also so many opportunities to help increase my experience and knowledge that have now been given to me through this scholarship.
