Why did you choose to come to Exeter?
I had completed the Pathways to Law programme prior to coming to university which allowed me to become familiar with the campus and the course I would be studying here at Exeter. Having that experience finalised my decision to apply to Exeter because I could really see myself living and studying here.
Why have you chosen your subject of study?
I have always had an interest in law and the legal profession so I decided to take law at A level along with work experience in a local law firm. This only consolidated my love for law and I decided I wanted to continue my studies with a degree.
What career aspirations do you have?
After my Law degree I am hoping to go on to become a solicitor. I am not yet sure which area of practice I am focusing on as there are too many I am interested in! this is why I am so excited to gain what legal experience I can in all different fields of law.
What will you be doing outside of study?
I have joined the law society, debating society and a few sports/fitness societies to attend to give me a good balance of academic development but also having fun and keeping healthy. I am also looking to take part in probono activities and becoming a student ambassador.
What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?
I cannot express how thankful I am to have been selected for this scholarship. it will allow me to fully focus on my studies without financial stress and will open up new opportunities. This support has given me more motivation to challenge myself and take advantage of every opportunity available to me for example, this scholarship will be able to support me through potential work experience and programmes outside of term time. Also, in terms of my future it allows me to consider options of potentially taking my studies abroad, working in a city or going on to study a masters degree which would have been financially difficult.
