Profile - Carla Streeter
What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?
It honestly means so much to me that I'm awarded such an amazing opportunity, as I would not have been able to do this postgraduate degree without. I know that with this Master's I am able to specialise in a subject that I love, which not only is a lot of fun but also help my future career in terms of improving job prospects and developing skills and knowledge. Additionally, getting the chance to be a student for one more year means I am further able to explore new interests and gain new skills through societies.
Why did you choose to come to Exeter?
I did my undergraduate degree at the University, so I knew it was an amazing place to study. I love the campus (it has the highest tree:student ratio!) and it honestly feels like such a good environment in which to learn and thrive academically. Aside from this, it also has a good extracurricular aspect, with hundreds of societies to get involved with.
Why have you chosen your subject of study?
I did Business for my undergraduate degree, which covered a whole range of areas within business, marketing of which was one of them. I found that I really enjoyed this subject and wanted to specialise and study it further beyond my undergrad degree.
What career aspirations do you have?
I aim to become a marketing executive for a leading company, preferably within brand design and/or advertising. This Master's degree will be invaluable in helping me gain knowledge within these areas, through modules such as Brand Design and Consumer Behaviour, and developing business skills.
What will you be doing outside of study?
I've recently joined the Women In Business and Entrepreneurship Societies, along with the IKEEP Programme (intrapreneurship placement scheme). I'm also hoping to join the Tennis, Expedition and Snowsports societiess. I'm hoping to do some things that I've never done before!
