Profile - Jack Collins

Why did you choose to come to Exeter?

Financial Analysis and Fund Management has a very unique course offering, and when combining this with the option of undertaking both Chartered Finacial Analyist Level I and II examinations provides an exceptional masters degree. Combining this with the associated prestige of the University of Exeter, as well as phenomenal employability scores formed my decision to come to Exeter.

Why have you chosen your subject of study?

The course content is extremely demanding and in-depth, consequently creating a very well respected degree. Content is tailored to create analytical minds which are suited to work within the investment sector.

What career aspirations do you have?

My overarching goal is to become a fund manager in the future. To meet this goal I hope to work as an analyst/generalist after graduating and work towards my CFA Charter-holder.

What will you be doing outside of study?

Thus far I have joined the Exeter Student Investment Fund (ExSIF) to meet and work with like-minded individuals. I have also joined the Expedition Society to meet friends in different areas of study, as well as exploring and hiking on trips within the society.

What does receiving this scholarship mean to you and how will it impact on your time at Exeter and beyond?

My financial position is such that without this award I would not have been able to study at the University of Exeter. As such, I am extremely grateful that these opportunities exist to allow students like myself to attain a masters degree in order to progress their career development and enable them to fulfill their potential.
